1. Scope
These Terms of Use apply to the use of the website slopemap-hd.org and its associated API (together: “Services”). The operator is Timo Braun, Pforzheimer Str. 140, 76275 Ettlingen, Germany (“Operator”).
2. Map Data & Data Sources
The slope maps displayed on slopemap-hd.org are based on the following open elevation data:

3. Website Usage
The website slopemap-hd.org is freely accessible. No registration is required. The display of slope maps on the website may be used for private and informational purposes without restriction.
4. API Access
Access to the tile API is available in three tiers:
Free — Personal Projects, Open Source & Non-Profit
Free API access is available for personal non-commercial projects, open-source projects, and non-profit organisations. A brief description of the intended use must be submitted by email.
Commercial — Paid
Commercial use of the tiles (e.g. integration into commercial apps, platforms, or services) requires paid API access. Pricing is available on request.
General API Terms
- An API key will be issued upon approval.
- API access must not be shared with third parties.
- The Operator reserves the right to restrict or revoke access in case of misuse or excessive usage.
5. Disclaimer
The slope data is provided without warranty of accuracy, completeness, or timeliness. In particular:
- The data does not replace an independent assessment of terrain and avalanche conditions on site.
- Use of the data in alpine terrain is at your own risk.
- The Operator assumes no liability for damages arising from the use of the data.
- Digital elevation models may contain errors, artefacts, or outdated data.
- At national and regional borders, data from different sources may overlap. Differences in resolution, accuracy, and representation can occur in these areas.
6. Intellectual Property & License
The slope maps (tiles) are an original derivative work by the Operator based on the source data listed in Section 2. The source data itself is subject to the respective licenses of the data providers. The layout, design, and the “slope^map HD” brand are the property of the Operator.
Dual Licensing Model
The tiles are made available under a dual licensing model:
Non-commercial & Open Source Use — CC BY 4.0 For personal, non-commercial, and open-source projects, the tiles are available under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) licence. The following attribution is required when using the tiles:

Commercial Use — Proprietary Licence Commercial use of the tiles (e.g. in commercial apps, platforms, or services) requires a separate licence agreement. Pricing is available on request as per Section 4.
7. Changes
The Operator reserves the right to amend these Terms of Use at any time. The current version is always available on this page.
